Canon Pixma MG2120 Printer Review

Home users who want an all-in-one inkjet, but are on a low budget may want to think about the PIXMA MG2120. It was released back in October 2011 alongside two other new PIXMA models, the MG3120 and 4120. As the number (and the price) implies, this is the most basic of the three models.
The MG2120 is a 3-in-1 with the capability to print, scan, and copy your documents and photos. It about average in terms of print speed, topping out at 8.4 ISO ppm for plain black text only. Unfortunately the only connection option you get on this model is USB 2.0, so if you really want a wireless printer, youll need to look elsewhere. A Bluetooth adapter is available for an additional $50. It is relatively compact in size, measuring 17.7″ x 12.0″ x 6.0″ (WxDxH) and it weighs under 12 lbs. Like many of the newer Canon PIXMA models, it is compatible with both Easy-WebPrint EX for printing web content in a manner you lay out and Full HD Movie Print which grants you to print still images of movies taken with many Canon digital cameras and camcorders.
Paper handling on the PIXMA MG2120 is about what youd anticipate for a machine in this price range, albeit with a somewhat higher capacity (100 sheets). It does not come with the capability to print, scan, or copy double-sided pages.
The ink for this model comes from a two-cartridge bay with one standard black and one standard tri-color cartridge. If you need more ink than that, there are a few choices: a high-capacity black, a high-capacity tri-color, and an ultra high-capacity black. The differences in page yields were not listed on the manufacturers website.
If youre looking for a printer you can easily plug in and go, this may fit your needs. If you need any other features like wireless printing, an auto-sheet feeder, or individual ink, you could try the PIXMA MG4120, though that is nearly twice as costly at $129.99.
