‘Crysis 2′ Minimum PC System Requirements Revealed
February 3, 2011 02.36pm EST
When the original “Crysis” was released in 2007, it instantly earned a reputation for being one of the most challenging PC games to run—or at least run well. There’s a reason many hardware review sites, including PCMag.com, still use it in their standard benchmark stables. But based on details that have trickled out about the system requirements for the game’s sequel, “Crysis 2,” history may not be repeated.
The key phrase is “may not.” What Crytek has now released are, of course, the minimum system requirements needed to get the game to start. We find it extremely likely that in order to have a completely smooth game-play experience, particularly at higher resolutions and/or with the graphics details cranked up, you will need even better hardware. But the absolute baseline for entry means you will have to have:
An active Internet connection for installing the game A PC running Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 An Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlong 64 X2 CPU, running at 2 GHz 2GB of RAM 9GB of free hard drive space An 8x DVD drive An Nvidia 8800 GT or ATI Radeon HD 3850 with 512MB of RAM DirectX 9.0c–compatible audio hardware, and A keyboard, mouse, or Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows
”Crysis 2″ moves the action from a tropical island to New York City, and has a storyline penned by British science-fiction author Richard Morgan. The game is slated to be released in the United States on March 22, but anticipate to see a multi-player demo available for Xbox 360 and PC sometime before that.
