“playful, educational games support an engaging environment that maximizes a child’s cognitive development.”
“We’re thrilled for the iStartSmart System to be recognized as a revolutionary tool for early learners,” stated Ginny Norton, president of Hatch. “It’s not just a kid-friendly computer pre-loaded with software, it’s standards-based with an adaptive technology that grants kids to advance through increasing levels of competency and enables instructors to monitor individual progress. This gives instructors the power to make informed instructional decisions, which we have seen lead to improved child outcomes.”
Selection criteria for The EDDIES was based on academic content, potential for broad classroom use, technical merit, subject approach and management system. Winners were selected from titles submitted by publishers around the world.
The EDDIE Showcase review of the iStartSmart system highlighted the management program which simplifies student access to the research-based, scaffolded activities through a unique, child-friendly login. The individual login also provides instructors with the capability to tailor lessons and easily obtain progress monitoring reports in five essential areas.
Additionally, the Review writers noted Hatch’s philosophy that “playful, educational games support an engaging environment that maximizes a child’s cognitive development.”
