HP Photosmart 6510 eAIO Printer Review

Date: January 26, 2012

Home and home office users who need a new printer but dont want to spend a great deal should think about one of the latest offerings from HP, the Photosmart 6510 e-All-in-One. It was released with a slew of other printers back in September 2011. It is a 3-in-1 device which can print, copy, scan your documents.

The 6510 in many ways is like the huge brother of the HP Photosmart 5510, also released last September. It features the same print speeds, but boasts a bigger touch screen (3.45 compared to 2.36 on the 5510). As part of HPs ePrint family, users can email print jobs to the printers unique email address without even having to be in the same house. The 6510 is also compatible with AirPrint, which makes it possible to print documents and pics through an app from iOS- and Android-powered mobile devices. Users will also likely appreciate the access to a variety of web apps, right from the touchscreenno PC required!

In terms of paper handling, the Photosmart 6510 is pretty decent. While it does not come with an ADF, there is a separate pic tray capable of handling 20 sheets of pic paper at a time. If you do print a lot of photos, this will save you the trouble of switching between the two paper types. The main paper tray will hold up to 80 sheets of paper at a time. The automatic, two-sided printing helps to save paper, and comes as a standard feature in this device.

The Photosmart 6510 has a four-cartridge ink system, just like the 5510 and uses the same cartridges. The standard capacity black cartridge has an approximate yield of 250 pages, and each of the color cartridges (cyan, magenta, and yellow) have estimated yields of 300. If you need more ink than that, the high-capacity black has an estimated yield of 550 pages, and each of the three colors have an estimated yield of 750 pages. All of these deliver and outstanding cost per page (CPP).

If youre looking for a budget-friendly printer, along with the convenience of two-sided printing, this is a good fit. The paper capacity is a tiny light, but it does have a separate pic tray.
